Warriors Survive Scare From The Grizzlies

When facing a team with sixteen straight road losses, it would be understandable to have a bit of a letdown. Still, this one was almost downright ridiculous, as the Warriors continued a dangerous recent trend of playing down to the level of inferior opponents, and watched a 16-point fourth quarter lead evaporate to a single point, before Baron Davis took control in the last few minutes to hold off the lowly Grizzlies 110-107. Davis scored all of his 19 points in the second half, and Stephen Jackson led the way with 21 points. Matt Barnes alwso had his most effective outing in weeks with 11 points and 4 rebounds in 9 key minutes off the bench.

The team has had some terrible losses this year, but this undoubtedly would have been the worst of all, and wreaked havok on their chances to make the postseason with a surging Denver right on their trail. Probably the best news for the Warriors is that after facing Sacramento and The LA Clippers in the next few days, they will get back to business against the toughest teams in the league including the red-hot Houston Rockets on Friday. There is no chance they will play down to the level of those guys, or any of the other Western Contenders they will see in the coming weeks.
